IMPACT Make Your Mark is a Community Work Coordinator contracted by the Commonwealth Government to manage work experience opportunities in our local and regional community. A diverse range of work experience opportunities are available, providing participants with an extensive choice of placements in employment sectors aligned to their employment goals. Participants can choose to work in small groups or in individual placements and there is also an opportunity to move around activities to taste test different work environments.

Placements are available in Bundaberg, Monto, Eidsvold, Rosedale, Childers and Gin Gin so you can gain work experience within your local community.

Benefits for Participants

Work Experience provides the opportunity for jobseekers to return to a work environment.

Like work, work experience can provide real life opportunities for job seekers to refresh skills and gain new skills.

There is an opportunity to earn up to $800 Training Credits which can be used to purchase training or obtain licenses necessary to obtain work (IMPACT staff have details regarding eligibility and participation requirements).

Earn an extra $20.80 per fortnight provided by centrelink to cover costs eg transport.

An opportunity to expand community networks, both socially and with potential employers.

Maintain or enhancing personal skills and build confidence.

Experience a range of new work environments as a means of testing and confirming employment goals.

Be involved in a worthwhile community activity.

Benefits to the Community

Provides benefits to the community by assisting community or government organisations to complete additional tasks they wouldn't undertake that have benefit to their local community 

Participants assist paid or unpaid staff in the day-to-day running of their organisation. Without this assistance many community organisations wouldn't be able to deliver their services to our community.

Benefits to the community are gained through small construction projects, repairs, enhances or refurbishes community facilities or completes grounds work in parks and gardens.

PARENTS RETURNING TO WORK
Parents are encouraged to be involved, and IMPACT will work with you to organise your work experience around your child care commitments. We also help you to work around school holidays and other times when you just can't be available.

INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING TO PARTICIPATE
Assistance is provided to help arrange voluntary work experience placements. A history of volunteering looks very attractive to a potential employer than a history of unemployment showing no community connection.

So why not volunteer for work experience to connect into your local community, learn new skills, create employment networks and meet new friends.

EXTRA JOB SEARCH SUPPORT WHILE YOU GAIN WORK SKILLS
IMPACT ensures you have additional job search assistance to help you reach your goal. Experienced staff help with resumes and letters of application and a range of resources are available to you which include computers, telephone, fax, Internet and more. Take advantage of all the help you can get to reach your employment goal.

TRAINING CREDITS
IMPACT staff make sure you are aware of the Training Credits you are earning and help you identify training or licenses that will enhance your job searching efforts - this is one of the great BONUSES available to you rewarding your dedication to your search for work.

COMMUNITY AND GOVERNMENT ORGANISATION INVOLVEMENT IN THE PROJECT
Sponsor and host organisations must be not-for-profit OR local government organisations.

Activities must provide community benefit and quality work experience aligned to the Skills in Demand within the Bundaberg area labour market in order to be considered suitable for inclusion in this programme.
